The Land Registry (TLR) will be focusing on faster processing, improved management of demand spikes, and replace the old systems with new technologies.
According to Iain Banfield, the Interim Chief Land Registrar, these reforms will help the Government reach its 1.5 million new homes commitment by adding a reliable means of accessing updated and comprehensive data on all properties in England and Wales, allowing developers and local authorities to have greater certainty over land ownership.
In addition, TLR will be working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to support the reform of both leasehold and commonhold systems.
With £59 million allocated towards the programme this year, there is significant emphasis on investing in both people and technology to increase overall delivery performance.
