With the implementation of the Employment Rights Act 2025 in April, the UK employment landscape is continuing to evolve, and we are seeing large changes regarding privacy and data protection rights.

This includes the introduction of new legislation on the 19th June 2026, which is known as the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. This grants all individuals (data subjects) the right to make a statutory complaint against any data controller regarding the processing of their personal data and places additional obligations on the employer (data controller) to acknowledge and respond to the complaint within specified time limits.
