Rise in the number of children going into care

​The most senior judge in the family courts, Sir Andrew McFarlane, has blamed austerity for the rise in the number of children going into care.

He also spoke of the need for greater transparency, calling the family courts the "hidden relative" in the justice system despite being buried by cases.
