The Law Society is taking the UK government to court

​The Law Society is taking the UK government to court over the right to legal aid.

The government rejected calls for criminal defence solicitors’ legal aid rates to be increased by the recommended minimum of 15%, and are being accused of:

❌ ignoring the recommendations of its own independent review;
❌ being inconsistent by finding money for defence and prosecution barristers but not solicitors;
❌ rejecting independent mediation.
