Is a Power of Attorney more important than a Will? Martin Lewis has recently highlighted why a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) can matter even more than a Will.
While a Will sets out what happens to your assets after death, an LPA protects you while you are still alive. If you lose mental capacity due to illness or injury, it allows someone you trust to make decisions about your finances, property, or healthcare on your behalf.
Without one in place, families may have to apply to the Court of Protection to gain authority to act, which can be a lengthy and stressful process.
